onekey ghost win7 64bit OneKey Ghost (Ghost) is a program that facilitates installing and running Windows 7 or 8 on computers with UEFI firmware even if the computer was originally installed using BIOS. Why is this important? The majority of computers in use today are equipped with UEFI, not BIOS. These machines do not have any functioning legacy boot capabilities, which means that they cannot boot into the traditional VGA interface used for display or to access an EFI shell prompt by pressing F2 during POST. Instead, computers with UEFI are required to boot into an "EFI shell", which is a graphical shell that allows you to control the computer's hardware. This also means that machines with UEFI cannot install Windows through an ISO image due to the lack of any legacy boot capability. The ability to install Windows 7 or 8 on computers with UEFI installation regardless of whether they originally came equipped with BIOS or UEFI can be very beneficial, especially for IT departments who need to wipe computers en mass for security purposes. The original developers of both GParted and aDout make a similar opcode available for use with aDout, but the implementation of the code greatly differs. For example, aDout can resize drives even when they don't mount, GParted requires the user to create partitions on every drive. OneKey Ghost works by making an exact copy of your Windows installation files onto a USB device. Once plugged into your machine, you simply reboot into the UEFI shell and install Windows from there. In order for this to work properly, you must have an EFI-capable Linux distribution installed on your computers system partition (or equivalent). Examples of this would be Ubuntu or Arch Linux. Although OneKey Ghost does not contain any actual Windows installation tools, the software supports the creation of partitions, filesystems, and other advanced functions which can be used to create install media for other Windows-based programs. The device in which your Windows installation is copied to must support booting in UEFI mode in order for this feature to work. The latest version of OneKey Ghost has native support for 64-bit UEFI installations. The developers have released a 64-bit version of OneKey Ghost, too. The installer also supports editing partition tables directly on the Linux system partition, which is not included in the 32-bit UEFIS driver. The original bug report for this issue was filed by developer Nilton Faustino and the first development version of the software was released on July 5, 2010. OneKeyGhost v1.28 was released on September 10, 2010 and features support for 64-bit UEFI installation and an improved chkdsk binary. On July 7th 2011, OneKeyGhost v2.00 was released featuring improved ISO building routines to ensure that no unnecessary data is written to the USB stick during the process; this release also supports 64-bit UEFI installations and a chkdsk binary that will accept partitions with GPT GUID Partitions. On December 4th 2011, OneKeyGhost v3. eccc085e13
